Users who visit the facebook website only see an error message while WhatsApp and Instagram apps continue to work, but not possible to send or receive messages.
Facebook’s outages happen rarely relatively but tend to result in a huge mayhem on their part and for users.
The company is often cryptic about the causes of any problem they encounter and do not bother to explain them even after they are fixed.
A company spokesperson said that it apologised for any inconveniences caused but gave no hint on when they issue is going to be resolved.
“We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products,” spokesperson Andy said on twitter.”We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and apologize for any inconveniences.”
Effects Of This Downtime
According to NetBlocks which tracks outages and it’s impact, it estimated that the outage has caused the global economy $160m, and sent the Facebook share price down by more than 5 percent.
The exact reason behind this outage is still unclear as the social media giant hasn’t released any communique regarding the cause of this outage.
